A letter from May 14th, 2021

Dear FutureMe,

You've been wanting to get your own studio in Dubai but the fees are just too much for a space for yourself. It would have been better if you live with your family or Aurelien with you but no. Although you are worthy to have your own place however you always wanted to be wise about money to spend on the uncertainties in life so you opted in to find a flat to share with other people. Luckily, you managed to find one - a one bedroom-flat shared with a couple from Cebu: Marielle and Banban. They are very friendly people. And you feel so lucky to find this place and to live with them. It has been a month and two weeks here and it has been very nice. :)

The bedroom is very big with wide windows too. You see a glimpse of sunrise, the soft sunlight in the morning towards noon, shaded at noon and early afternoon, and then the golden afternoon sun hits the adjacent mirrored building and reflects the light through the windows - it's very magical. I can say that it reminds you so much of your bedroom back home in the Philippines. Therefore, it's very nostalgic and calming and cozy and, lately, you feel grounded. I am very proud of you.

Your sister Rachel and brother-in-law Melbert gave you the furniture you need (basically the things they won't need anymore in their new space!) - so there is less money to spend on. Amazon gave you the storage drawer for free because they kept moving the delivery date (three times!). So basically, the only furniture you had to buy is the shoe rack. Lovely!

You are into gardening again. Do you remember the time when you did gardening way back in 2012? Well, in 2021, you are into it now - although so far you only have a Pothos which was given by your flatmates and two pots of Tomato baby plants which were given by Rachel and Melbert. Finally, you can share pictures of your plants with your family who are also into gardening since the pandemic started last year!

I wonder how you are now? Are you into gardening and which plants are you taking care of? Recently, I can picture you have your own plants too (indoors or outdoors - does not really matter) because gardening keeps you sane and it keeps you remember about your wonderful childhood in your home. Ah, those plants... I wish we could relive those wonderful childhood days again. Those were such good memories and I hope that you will keep remembering them and telling stories about them to your offspring(s?).

Take care always and choose to stay lay low in life. Keep yourself grounded and choose to love.

Love,
Debie, 30
