The Mermaid Witch Book Review

Image
Children's books are always fun! And this for sure is one of them. It's about a mermaid witch who lives her extraordinary life happily. A very good book for your little ones to read. It will teach them the morality of being good and worry-free.  It's such a sweet things to receive a personal handwritten letter from the author of the book you like! :)   The illustrations are clever and funny. The colors are bright; it lightens up the mood even more. A very good read even for an adult like me!  Thank you, Mike Dimesa for the book! And Goodreads for the chance of winning the book! :)

Samal Road Trip

Image
We spent the afternoon of January 23rd driving around the Island Garden City of Samal (popularly known as Samal Island). We went from Babak to Penaplata then to Kaputian and vice versa.   A view from the barge. That is one of the boats sailing in the sea that day. Behind that is [part of] Davao City. There was nothing much during that ride. We did not mean to check in one of the resorts. It's just one of those random times where Kuya Mel wants some adventure. He just likes to drive around any place! Which is a good thing because we get to know some places, then-unknown cultures (e.i. like how the people live in this place, how they rock and how they roll!), new things! In short, it's like a school field trip. :)       This is the road going to a new subdivision site in the island. I have a bad/good idea about this though. Bad because I feel sad seeing part of the island go bald because of this. At home, in the city, we can see most of...

2014: Northern Mindanao (CARAGA Region & Southern Mindanao) Road Trip (Fifth Day)

Image
Fifth day! Bound to Davao! This was our route. As you can see, we traveled more (or less) 346 kilometers. We surely did a lot of stop overs just because! :D Butuan City! Nasipit. My siblings said they've been there before when our parents were still alive. They rode a ship from there to Bohol every time they visit my father's place. I am not sure if this is the place where my mother brought me when we rode a ship going to Bohol. It probably is. I was too young to remember but whether it is or not I can somehow remember some images and the feelings it bring everytime I look back to those early years. We bought some bread at a local bakeshop in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte. This pack of sugar-coated peanuts is made from there. Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur! A young rice farmer at Bayugan City. We had a chitchat with some of them. They're all happy folks! :D Kuya Mel experienced pla...

2014: Northern Mindanao (& CARAGA Region) Road Trip (Fourth Day)

Image
A micro shot of the pine tree in front of Ate Anna's yard On our fourth day in Cagayan de Oro city, we fetched Ate Anna to Laguindingan Airport which is  approximately 39 kilometers from their home. At the same time, packed our bags because we are also heading home back to Davao City. Ate Anna & Manoy Junjun Me a.k.a. chubby girl After fetching Ate Anna, we went straight ahead on our way to Davao City which is approximately 525 kilometers! It could have been a short ride if we used the other route but it's not fun! So we opted to drive on the longer and much exciting route. We passed by big bridges, rice fields, corn fields, mountains, and more beautiful scenery along the road. We traveled from Cagayan de Oro, Tagoloan, Jasaan, Salay, Kinoguitan, Talisayan, Medina, & Gingoog.  It was too dark on the road and there were no lights as well. It was so scary and cold but we just laughed it off and tried to find a place to st...
